Hello!   I believe, as Horace Mann said, that education is the "great equalizer."  It is my job to ensure that every child, regardless of size, race or socio-economic status, leaves my classroom with the best possible education that I can provide him/her with.  With God's guidance, I hope to cultivate critical thinking, problem solving and social awareness skills in my students so that they can effectively contribute to our global society.

My classroom is an intimate community of learners.  Education is built on the foundation of strong relationships.  On a daily basis students are engaged in authentic, experiential,hands-on project based activities that inherently foster critical thinking skills.  Emphasis is placed on collaboration, creativity and ingenuity. 

Lessons in my classroom are designed to be fun and informative.  They are typically hands-on, student-centered and they are often messy.  Technology is integrated into all areas of instruction.  Students gain ownership and a sense of responsibility for their learning when they are given choices.    I am an energetic teacher who facilitates an active classroom!

            On a personal note, my husband and two sons are longtime residents of Rathdrum, Idaho.  We love to camp, fish and spend time visiting with friends.  Previous to teaching at Genesis Prep, I was a fourteen-year veteran teacher with the Lakeland School District and an instructor for the University of Idaho.  Over the last several years, I have felt God calling me to serve Him with the gifts he has given me.  I am excited by the opportunity to teach with the focus on Him!
